The EM6125 is a bitmap controller and driver for full dot-matrix monochrome STN LCDs. It offers very low power consumption, as well as a partial display mode, which also enables reduced current consumption. The controller/driver is intended for employment in GSM and DECT mobile phones.

The chip offers a driving capability of 81 rows-by-102 columns (10 rows of characters plus 1 row of icons) or 65 rows-by-118 columns (8 rows or characters plus 1 row of icons). The LCD pixels and the bits of display data RAM offer a one-to-one relationship.

Typical current consumption is rated at about 1205A, without any external component except the capacitor connected to the LCD supply voltage. Further slashing power consumption, with the partial display mode selected, only 17 rows remain active, reducing required LCD voltage, as well as row and column commutation frequencies.

The device also features a slim form-factor that makes it suit COG, COF and COB technologies, an I2C interface, four on-chip intermediate bias voltage generator, an on-chip oscillator of LCD refresh, and high noise immunity on inputs.

The controller/driver operates via supply voltages ranging from 1.8V to 5V. Operating temperature range is specified at -400C to 850C.
