Microtune Inc. plans to expand its current product portfolio by combining RF, analog, and baseband technologies to develop end-to-end products for commercial applications in the broadband communications, wireless connectivity and automotive markets, and will set up business units for each of these three areas.

Douglas J. Bartek, chairman and CEO of Microtune, explained, "RF capability will always be a component of each new generation of our products. As we begin to tie RF functions together with complementary digital and baseband technologies, we will be better positioned to offer our customers a broad and complete solutions set."

To expand its presence in the automotive market, Microtune plans to grow organically through new classes of in-car products, such as digital radio, advanced antenna systems and Bluetooth-enabled wireless solutions that leverage its automotive RF-based technologies. At the same time, Microtune will be open to expansion in this market through partnerships or other opportunities.
