The UFB120FA20 and UFB120FA40 120A diodes from International Rectifier is claimed to have up to 11 percent faster recovery time than competing 200V devices, and up to 17 percent faster recovery time than competing 400V devices.

Housed in a SOT-227 package, the components are designed for use in output rectification circuits in high-current applications, such as welding systems, power supplies, and battery chargers.

"The four-terminal SOT-227 package enables flexible component layout," said Stephen Tsang, SVP sales at IR. "In addition, the rectifiers within the package are independent and electrically isolated from the copper substrate, which means that manufacturers may install the devices in series or parallel for greater voltage or current capability."

Both components have an insulation rating of 2.5kVrms between live terminals and the copper base. The UFB120FA20 is rated at 200V and has a recovery time of 28ns, while the UFB120FA40 is a 400V device with a recovery time of 35ns.

The UFB120FA is quoted at $11.72, while the UFB120FA40 is priced at $11.79, both in 1,000-unit quantities.
