Chomerics has introduced the Ecoplate metallic conformal coating process, which applies a pure metal coating as thin as 12.5?m over plastic or metal electronic housings. The company claims that the coating provides uniform coverage with no runs, edge pulls, corner puddles, or voids.

The company also claims that the coating process is free of solvents and corrosive making it suitable for thin-walled, plastic injection-molded parts. It can also replace conversion coating in metallic enclosures.

The Ecoplate process atomizes a metal film and robotically sprays it onto enclosure parts under controlled speed, particle size, and temperature conditions. This results in a typical shielding performance of >75dB from 100MHz to 10GHz.
