Pickering matrix modules allow improved switching

Pickering Interfaces Ltd has introduced the 40-560 PXI BRIC range of multi-slot matrix modules, which features Ruthenium reed relays that offer >108 operations, improved switching reliability, and stable contact resistance.

Available in 4- or 8-slot PXI sizes, the modules can be used for signal routing of in-circuit or functional ATE systems. The company claims that the high-level of switching density of the 40-560 PXI matrix modules allow a complete functional ATE system to be housed in a single 18-slot 3U PXI chassis.

The BRIC4 units are 4 slot PXI Modules that can hold up to 6 matrix daughtercards, providing >2,2000 crosspoints. The BRIC8 units are 8-slot PXI modules that can hold up to 12 matrix daughtercards, providing >4,400 crosspoints.

The range consists of three different relay types: 40-560, 40-561, and 40-562.

The 40-560 has a one-pole matrix switching with the BRIC4 having a maximum configuration of 276x8 or 138x16, while the BRIC8 has a layout of up to 552x8 or 276x16.

The 40-561 has a one-pole, one-pole screened or two-pole layout providing the BRIC4 with up to 156x8 or 78x16 and the BRIC8 with a 312x8 or 156x16 arrangement.

The 40-562 offers a similar pole layout as the 40-561, but provides the BRIC4 with up to 132x8 or 66x16 pattern and the BRIC8 with up to 264x8 or 132x16 setup.
