Silicon Storage Technology (SST) Inc. has introduced the SST39VF320 32Mb Flash memory chip that offers a maximum erase time of 50ms, instead of the minutes needed by most competing products.

The device also offers erase times for in-system programming up to 100 times faster than competing devices. It is designed for use in digital cameras, DVD players and recorders, PDAs, MP3 players, and networking devices.

Based on the company's 0.185m self-aligned SuperFlash process technology, the IC operates from a 2.7V to 3.5V supply and consume 9mA of current during operation and 35A during standby. It has a uniform sector size of 4KB per sector and exhibits a read access time of up to 90ns.

The SST39VF320 has JEDEC standard command sets and pinouts, and has CMOS I/O compatibility. It offers a data retention period of up to 100 years. The memory device is available in 48-lead, 12-by-20mm TSOPs and 48-ball, 6-by-8-by-1.1mm TFBGAs.
