ON Semiconductor has expanded its portfolio of low-voltage power MOSFETs with the introduction of 24V/25V n-channel power MOSFETs, designed specifically for synchronous buck converter circuits used in servers and desktop PCs.

The new devices feature proprietary planar process technology, which is claimed by the company to deliver a best figure-of-merit (on resistance multiplies by the gate charge) up to 40 percent better than their previous devices.

Aside from improving switching behavior, the planar technology also provides low on-resistance for low conduction losses and an optimized body diode to cut power losses. The new devices offer a total gate charge of 8.4nC to 30nC and an on-resistance between 3.7 milliohms to 117 milliohms. They have a gate voltage rating of 20V and are available in DPAK, D2PAK, and TO-220 packages.
