Siliconix Inc., a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology Inc., released the Si91871 and Si91872 300mA low-noise low dropout regulators that are packaged in a 3-by-3mm PowerPAK MLP33 and feature dropout voltage of 250mV at 300 mA.

Designed for use in battery-powered equipment such as cellphones, wireless handsets and modems, PDAs, notebooks, pagers, and digital cameras, the new ICs are small enough to fit in tiny circuit boards in miniaturized wireless devices while handling up to 1.2W of power dissipation.

Both are available in a range of 14 fixed output voltage options from 1.2V to 5V that is designed to maintain regulation while delivering 400mA peak output current in applications with high surge currents at turn-on. They are suited for sensitive RF receiver or audio amplifier environments, and come with external noise bypass capacitors that reduces output noise down to 305V(rms).
