Embedded wireless software developer Propagate Networks has landed an additional $8 million in funding in a series C round that included investments from Motorola Ventures and Thomas Weisel Venture Partners.

Propagate is developing an embedded cognitive radio software package for WLAN access point and client devices. The software, known as AutoCell, creates self-configuring wireless networks that automatically avoid radio frequency interference. Current Propagate partners include Netgear, Atheros Communications, and Chantry Networks.

To date, Propagate has raised approximately $14 million in venture funding. The company said it will use the $8 million obtained in its series C round to expand its sales and engineering resources in the United States and China.
