Vishay extends IHLP high-current inductor family

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. extended its IHLP family of low-profile, high-current inductors with two new devices offering inductance ranges of 0.1?H to 2.2?H (IHLP-2525EZ-05) and 3.3?H to 10?H (IHLP-2525EZ-01).

Touted to have the lowest DCR/?H for their respective package sizes, the new inductors serve as high-performing, space- and power-saving solutions for voltage regulator modules (VRM) and dc-to-dc converter applications in end products, including next-generation mobile devices, notebooks and desktop computers, servers, automotive systems, high-current power supplies and point of load converters, distributed power systems, and FPGAs.

The two new products measure 6.47-by-6.86mm with a maximum height profile of 5mm. Both occupy the standard 2525 footprint shared by lower-profile IHLP devices while providing higher rated current and lower DCR values.

These devices are specified for saturation currents ranging from 10A to 70A, typical DCR values ranging from 0.81 m? to 53.3 m?, and maximum DCR values ranging from 0.93 m? to 56 m?. The inductors have a 20 percent inductance tolerance.

Like other devices in the IHLP family of inductors, the IHLP-2525EZ-05 and IHLP-2525EZ-01 handle high transient current spikes without saturation and operate over a frequency range up to 5MHz. Packaged in a 100 percent lead-free, shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels, the inductors are specified for an operating temperature range of -55C to 125C, with high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock and vibration.

Samples and production quantities of the new inductors are already available. Lead time for production quantities is six to eight weeks.
