Sasken to team with Philips on Nexperia platform

Sasken Communication Technologies Ltd has joined with Philips as a software development partner on Nexperia's home and mobile products.

Sasken will provide software support to manufacturers developing Nexperia platforms for various applications optimized for portable media devices and mobile phones.

Sasken was selected by Philips on its ability to offer a complete system development capability, from IP to products and professional services. Sasken is also positioned to provide software development services to OEMs using the Nexperia media processor platform.

Sasken's Strawberra range of licensable, standards-compliant multimedia codec engines enables its partners to create applications that harness DSP power. Its video, audio, speech and image codecs are built on the OMAP platform and are commercially deployed with a range of industry leaders. The codecs are XDAIS compliant require minimum footprint and use MIPS-optimized algorithms.
