GigaBeam to use Vitesse InP technology for WiFiber

GigaBeam Corp. has signed an agreement with Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., obtaining access to Vitesse's Indium Phosphide technologies for its high performance RF modules used in next-generation WiFiber products.

GigaBeam's will utilize the Indium Phosphide technology of Vitesse (Camarillo, Calif.) for its 10 Gigabits-per-second products operating at the 10Gig E and OC192 protocols. GigaBeam WiFiber operates in the 71 to 76GHz and 81 to 86GHz radio spectrum bands mandated by the FCC for wireless point-to-point commercial communications.

"GigaBeam has emerged as the clear leader in high data rate wireless communications," said Louis Tomasetta, president and chief executive of Vitesse, in a statement. "We are delighted to be working with GigaBeam as it continues to develop technologies and introduce products designed to enhance wireless communications."
