Taking center stage at the China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components later this week (October 11-14) will be the latest products and technologies from more than 1,400 Asian exhibitors. Products to be showcased include miniature SMD crystals, slim GSM phones and compact PMPs. Visitors can also drop by the new pavilions for GPS, and personal and healthcare products.

Recognizing the growing popularity of compact designs for digital applications, the fair will feature a vast array of SMD crystals with miniature designs. The booth of Taizhou Jingrui Electronic from China's Zhejiang province will showcase a wide range of SMD crystals designed for advanced digital consumer electronics.

"The SMD crystals to be displayed at the show are at the most advanced level of our technology. They are heat-resistant and suitable for reflow solder. The miniature sizes make them ideal for high-density mounting and compact electronic equipment," Taizhou Jingrui general manager Lin Jiahai said.

Meanwhile, the latest designs in mobile phones, VoIP products, wireless terminals, handheld two-way radios and Bluetooth headsets will be featured in the booths at Gallery Halls 6 and 8 of the AsiaWorld-Expo.

Exhibitors will showcase slim GSM mobile phones targeted for emerging markets in Asia, South Africa, India and Pakistan. Other products to be exhibited include GSM fixed wireless phones, VoIP products, GSM/CDMA mobile phones, mobile phone repeaters/boosters, Bluetooth headsets and handheld two-way radios.

PMPs with new functions
Portable media player (PMP) manufacturers participating in the four-day event said their new models will feature more functions, support more formats and will be made available in compact designs with larger screens. HDD PMPs and flash PMPs will be on display, many of which will offer new functions such as games and GPS.

"Customers prefer multi-functional products and stylish designs. In the United States, many parents like giving PMPs as gifts to their children. Demand from other countries is high as well. As we have developed a number of PMP models, we will showcase them at the show to cater to buyers' different sourcing needs," said Tracy Lau, sales manager of China exhibitor Shenzhen Link-Create Technology.

Also on display are the latest security products, including various models of car LCD monitors, wireless camera systems and dome cameras for home, office and vehicle use. Visitors will see security products equipped with biometric technology applicable for time-attendance systems, access control systems, fingerprint scanners and facial recognition systems.

Bigger, better fair
The China Sourcing Fair: Electronic and Components will feature over 2,300 booths, a 30 percent improvement from its debut performance in Hong Kong last April. Exhibitors from mainland China reached over 1,400, with many coming from the Guangdong/Shenzhen electronics corridor. Many suppliers will be exhibiting in Hong Kong for the first time.

Global Sources chairman and CEO Merle Hinrichs said buyers are drawn to the fair for its broad range of new products and quality suppliers from all of Asia's key source markets for electronics. This month's fair features more than 1,400 booths of mainland China exhibitorsup by 60 percent over Apriland 900 booths of Hong Kong and Taiwan suppliers.

Meanwhile, two new pavilions will debut at the fairthe GPS Pavilion and Health and Personal Care Electronics Product Demonstration Area.

"Global Positioning Systems exports from the region are boominghelped by the growing popularity of automotive GPS units. Mainland China's production value of GPS units is expected to top $1.6 billion in 2006up from $1.28 billion in 2005," said Hinrichs.

The latest in in-car infotainment such as DVDs and A/V products with integrated GPS function will also be displayed. An example is a car DVD equipped with a 3D-navigation map for GPS navigation.

Meanwhile, the health and personal care demo zone is expected to give buyers a glimpse of what's next in one of mainland China's fastest-growing export categories. Products in this category include blood circulation devices, body fat analyzers, breathalyzers and stress relief products, among others.
