Pioneer selects Spansion as main flash memory supplier

Spansion Inc. announced that it has been selected as the main flash memory supplier of Pioneer Corp for a wide range of memory solutions used in a variety of application including automotive, digital consumer electronics and data storage. Pioneer is known for its innovative and customer-focused audio, video and car electronics for consumer and business uses.

In addition, Pioneer has also accredited Spansion for its excellence in technology, quality and support for its products and solutions. Spansion is the only flash memory company that has been accredited by Pioneer.

"We selected Spansion as our main Flash memory supplier in recognition of its complete innovative solutions from low-density to high-density Flash memory that have become crucial to Pioneer's full spectrum of products: car navigation, audio systems, digital television, DVD recorders and digital consumer electronics, as well as DVD-drive storage devices," said Takahisa Shimizu, procurement group general manager, Pioneer. "Spansion has applied its originality, inventiveness and innovation to provide Pioneer with important products that benefit society."

"We look forward to providing Flash memory solutions that enable Pioneer to rapidly place highly innovative and reliable products on the market for many years to come."

Spansion offers customers a complete line of flash memory solutions, including MirrorBit NOR, MirrorBit ORNAND, MirrorBit SPI and MirrorBit Quad Flash solutions. Currently, Spansion 128Mbit to 1Gbit MirrorBit NOR products and 4- 128Mbit floating-gate products are used in car navigation and other automotive products, as well as in digital consumer electronics.
