Three companies partner to deliver beyond 90nm services

Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd, UMC Japan (UMCJ) and Faraday Technology Corp. team up to offer 90nm design-to-manufacture services for the consumer market. The partnership will leverage the synergies of Faraday's extensive IP selection, Oki's front-end design expertise and sales channels, as well as UMCJ's manufacturing capability.

"Oki's business partnership with UMC and UMCJ in the past has complemented Oki's system LSI development," said Masahiko Morioka, president of Silicon Solutions Co. at Oki Electric Industry. "Now we are looking forward to Faraday's inputs of its beyond 90nm IPs, design services and back-end support to bring more cost-effective solutions with better performance and fast turnaround time to Japan and Asia markets. This agreement also enables us to focus our resources more effectively on our system know-how, marketing and customer relationships."

Faraday offers logic and mixed-signal ASICs, IPs and libraries at 65nm and 90nm nodes. Applications for the IP portfolio include digital imaging/video/surveillance, networking and PC peripheral platforms.
