Vishay's Tantamount Hi-Rel COTS T95 tantalum chip capacitors

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has announced the release of new Tantamount Hi-Rel COTS T95 series solid tantalum chip capacitors designed to provide high-reliability screening and surge current testing options.

Designed for safety-critical avionics and military applications such as radar and weapon systems, the new T95 capacitors promise a wide array of ratings not found in available MIL specifications, providing the flexibility and convenience of a commercial product without the need for costly, time-consuming specification development, Vishay said.

These conformal-coated capacitors offer high-reliability screening options including Weibull grading and surge current testing options in accordance with MIL-PRF-55365 in a wide variety of cases. The company said these capacitors feature the required reliability and surge screening options necessary to ensure performance in Hi-Rel applications while still maintaining a maximum capacitance-voltage product.

The new tantalum chip capacitors have a capacitance range of 0.1F to 680F and a voltage range of 4-50V. They offer the option of low ESR values, which extend down to 0.055 at 25C and 100kHz. Devices in the T95 series operate over a temperature range of -55C to 125C.

Their extended capacitance and voltage valuescoupled with reliability, surge current and ESR optionsmake the T95 tantalum capacitors a flexible solution in demanding applications where the cost of failure is high, Vishay said. The T95 will also reduces costs and time-to-market by eliminating the need for customer drawings, source control drawings or special part numbers, the company added.

The surface-mount T95 capacitors are available in standard EIA tape-and-reel packages and feature standard SnPb terminations, with 100 percent tin terminations available. Samples and production quantities are available today, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks for larger orders.
