Gigavac has introduced the GX12, a high-current, sealed contactor that can switch both DC and AC up to 750V. The single pole/single throw normally open universal contactor is UL508 4/0 ambient compliant to 75C at 225A but can carry and switch 275A at 50C.

The GX12, using Gigavac's Extended Performance Impervious Ceramic (EPIC) sealing technology, is designed to meet UL1604 for Class I and II, Div 2 and Class III for use in hazardous locations, IP67 for temporary water immersion for 30mins, SAE J1171 external ignition protection and ISO 8846 for protection against ignition around flammable gasses. The EPIC sealing technology is said to reduce risk of fire or meltdown in overcurrent conditions.

Measuring 57mm (2.25-inches) in height, 60mm (2.4-inches) in width and 115mm (4.5-inches) in length, the GX12 sealed contactor with industry-standard chassis-level power connections can be mounted in any direction. Stainless steel hardware and mounting inserts provide corrosion-free service for many years, according to the company.

The GX12 is available with DC and AC coils with internal coil suppression built-in for the DC coils. There are no EMI emissions or cross-talk on system control power. SPDT auxiliary contacts rated at 2A are available as an option.

The GX12 sells for $97 each for one piece and $67 each for 50 pieces. The device is available in stock for immediate delivery. The company generally ships the same day the order is received.
