Stackpole Electronics Inc. has introduced the ETW series of large tubular non-flammable high-power wirewound resistors for applications ranging from 10W to 1,300W. Physical sizes range from slightly longer than 2 inches to over 28 inches in total length.

The ETW series is available in these wattages: 10-, 20-, 30-, 40-, 50-, 60-, 80-, 100-, 120-, 150-, 200-, 250-, 300-, 400-, 500-, 600-, 700-, 800-, 900-, 1,000- and 1,300W. Due to their relatively large size, they are available in bulk packaging only.

The ETW resistors feature two separate types of mounting flanges that are separate from the electrical terminals for easier and more reliable connection to heavy equipment and motors where significant vibration occurs. They offer resistance values from 0.1 to 1.3M with 5 percent standard tolerances. Smaller sizes deliver a limited resistance value range.

Applications include many types of large motors such as those used for elevators and escalators, cranes and hoists, and irrigation systems. The resistors can also be used in heavy drilling equipment, electric golf carts, exercise equipment, metal forming and processing equipment, paper processing and consumer appliances. Other applications include water and sewage pumps, ventilation fans, pressure washers, conveyors, mixers and large power tools.

Price ranges from $1.03 each for the 10W part to $52.75 each for the 1,300W part, depending on size and volume.
