AVX Corp. has developed a wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor that features a patented high capacitance cathode system enabling high capacitance/voltage (CV) designs, well beyond the values specified in the Mil-PRF-39006 drawing. The TWA series is manufactured and tested to the 93026 specification, and withstands the harsh shock and vibration requirements of 39006.

It is available in a wide range of CV packages including size T1 (A case up to 10uF at 125Vdc) through T4 (E case up to 150uF at 125Vdc). AVX said it is the only supplier that offers capacitors with ratings of 2,200uF/25V and 1,000uF/60V. Custom CV packages are available.

The TWA wet electrolytic tantalum capacitor design includes a welded tantalum can and header assembly that provides a hermetic seal to withstand harsh environments. The operating temperature range is from -55C to 125C.
