Fujitsu Ltd said the Fujitsu Group is heading toward the "Green Policy 2020." It is the company's medium-term vision in doing its share to solve global environment issues.

This vision carries the three keywords: "creation," "collaboration" and "change" with the goal to spark environmental innovation in the Fujitsu Group. It seeks to get involved in the societal awareness of building a prosperous, low-carbon community. The company is determined to pursue this initiative that will help in reducing CO2 emissions in Japan by 30 million tons in 2020.

Worldwide involvement
At the Group of Eight (G8) Summit held in Hokkaido, world leaders issued a declaration stating that they would go hand in hand in combating global greenhouse gas emissions by half in 2050. With this goal, they are expecting that the reduction of the worldwide greenhouse emissions should be noticeable by 2020 at the latest, along with the technological, systematic and free-market measures that will be part of the process.

With this endeavor, the Fujitsu Group presented a new environmental vision for the company in relation to its role as a global IT leader.

To achieve a low-carbon society, the Group will start to leverage its technologies and technical know-how in sharing environmental innovation to its community, in partnership with its customers and staff.

Innovative energy initiatives
By 2020, Fujitsu seeks to offer world-class overall energy efficiency in all of its business undertakings, including software and services, hardware, electronic devices etc. It plans to set up a new organization to promote low-carbon activities to address every area of the Leadership Declaration of the Business and Biodiversity Initiative.

To achieve the goals, Green Policy 2020 includes 20 specific topics, including 13 on the subject of benefiting customers and society, such as developing innovative energy technologies and helping customers reduce their resource and energy demands. Five initiatives are focused on internal reforms, including thorough carbon reduction in Fujitsu's business activities and two on the areas of biodiversity.
