Murata Power Solutions has introduced its CEF400-112C series, a 400W, single output AC/DC switching power supply for distributed power architecture (DPA) designs requiring reliable 12V bulk power.

The active power-factor-corrected (PFC) power supply features an integral fan enabling it to deliver 400W of continuous power in a low-profile 1U package without the need for additional external airflow. Typical applications include telecoms and networking equipment, industrial controls, office equipment, test and measurement equipment, and instrumentation.

The IEC EN61000-3-2 compliant power supply accepts a universal input voltage range of 85Vac to 264Vac or 120Vdc to 300Vdc. In addition to its main 12V output, the CEF400-112C also features an "always on" 5V auxiliary output for applications that require standby operation. A built-in OR-ing FET enables current sharing for N+1 redundancy and fault-tolerant applications.

The compact high power density design incorporates a number of important monitoring and control features such as AC power fail, DC power good, remote on/off, remote sense, and droop current share. Status and control can alternately be accomplished through the I/O pins or the integral I?C interface. Integral safety features include overvoltage, overcurrent and thermal overload protection.

Overall dimensions of the RoHS compliant CEF400-112C are 101.6mm (4.0-inch) x 177.8mm (7-inch) x 40.4mm (1.59-inch). Operating temperature range is 0C to +50C, and calculated mean time before failure (MTBF) is 480,000 hours (at 25C ambient, 120VAC input and 100 percent load).

Pricing starts from $157 in OEM quantities. Devices are available now.
