Semtek has just announced that contactless and mobile payments solution provider ViVOtech has now become the first new licensee of Semtek's Cipher Hidden Encryption for its customer-facing point-of-sale (POS) devices under the company's new global open licensing framework.

Under Semtek's global open licensing program, any POS device provider can both inexpensively and efficiently integrate Semtek's Cipher Hidden Encryption for use on their devices. On activation, the device providers are readily inter-operable with Semtek's network-level decryption services, which are installed on payment processor hosts and large payment gateways worldwide.

Semtek's Cipher Security Solutions, which include POS device encryption applications, software security and network-level decryption services, create a continuous security continuum from the moment a card is used all the way through completion of a transaction. These security solutions, when paired with Semtek's card authentication and monitoring systems, protect payment card data from data theft and card counterfeiting throughout the entire use cycle.

ViVOtech will install Semtek's device-level encryption technologies in the ViVOpay line of products to provide end-to-end encryption security to merchants, under the proposed long-term licensing arrangement.
