CAM cores, compilers support 28nm apps

eSilicon Corp. has launched its eFlex content-addressable memory (CAM) cores and eFlexCAM compilers in the market, targeting applications such as network switches, routers, gateways, firewalls and web servers.

eSilicon's eFlexCAM cores consist of silicon-proven BCAMs and TCAMs on process nodes ranging from 180nm through 40nm. Customers can also opt for an eFlexCAM front-end kit to help them implement their 28nm designs. eFlexCAM compilers help optimize the CAM cores for specific needs by allowing customers to select the features they need for their applications. CAM cores always provide priority encoding, redundancy and at-speed BIST features.

The ultra-high-speed table-lookup functionality that CAMs provide is critical for high-speed searches required for packet processing in communications applications. Binary CAMs are used in applications that require matching an exact pattern in the table, while ternary CAMs are needed in applications requiring multi-dimensional matching with wildcards.
