Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) has announced the availability of a robust set of voice and fax processing modules used to create voice transcoding and VoIP media gateway solutions.

Based on TIs Telogy Software, Voice Library Version 1.0 (VoLIB) and Fax Library Version 1.0 (FAXLIB) are available for the first time in object code for TIs TMS320C55x ultra-low power (ULP) and TMS320C64x+ digital signal processors (DSPs). Merged with TIs DSP technology, these voice processing modules reduce product development time and offer an open environment for OEMs to differentiate their products with specific modules from TIs voice and fax libraries.

Our customers not only have the flexibility to select from a range of TI devices in the C55x and C64x+ DSP platforms, but they also have a path to migration with our newly announced TMS320C66x multicore DSPs as these libraries become available on C66x devices next year,? comments Ramesh Kumar, multicore & media infrastructure business manager, TI.

The voice processing modules augment the family of codecs available to developers on TIs website. VoLIB modules consists of: Telogy Software Line Echo Canceller (ECU); Tone Detection Unit (TDU); Caller ID Detection/Generation (CID); Tone Generation Unit (TGU); Voice Activity Detection Unit (VAU); Noise Matching Functions; Packet Loss Concealment (PLC); Voice Enhancement Unit (VEU).
