Trek Inc. has introduced the 10/10B-HS, a new high-speed, high-voltage amplifier at the 2011 SPIE Smart Structures/NDE Conference.

This new 10 kV four-quadrant DC-stable amplifier provides high speed of response with slew rate greater than 700 V/?s, high output current to 40 mA peak AC, and large signal bandwidth of DC to greater than 19.5kHz (-3dB).

Applications include electrostatic deflection (ion beam steering, particle accelerators, mass spectrometers), material characterization (ferroelectrics), and plasma (atmospheric plasma, dielectric barrier discharge). Additional applications include electroactive polymers (EAP), electrophoresis, electrophotography, electrorheological fluids, electro-optic modulation, material poling, and AC or DC biasing.

The 10/10B-HS can be used by several industries including aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, defense, electronics, energy, instrumentation, laboratory, military, power, semiconductors, and telecommunications.

The 10/10B-HS features an all-solid-state design to deliver high slew rate, wide bandwidth, and low-noise operation. It provides precise control of output voltages in the range of 0 to 10 kV DC or peak AC with an output current range of 0 to 10 mA DC or 40 mA peak AC for 1ms. It is configured as a non-inverting amplifier with a fixed gain of 1000 V/V.

The four-quadrant, active output stage sinks or sources current into reactive or resistive loads throughout the output voltage range. This is essential for achieving the accurate output response and high slew rates demanded by reactive loads. Model 10/10B-HS is protected against overvoltage and overcurrent conditions that may be generated by active loads or by output short circuits to ground.

Its precision voltage and current monitors provide low-voltage representations of the high-voltage output and load current for monitoring purposes or for use as feedback signals in a closed loop system.

The model is equipped with a remote high voltage on/off feature providing a connection for a remote device. This makes model 10/10B-HS suitable for automated or computer-controlled systems.
