Keywords:CMOS sensor? industrial camera? communication protocol?

Adimec introduces the Qs-4A60 and Qs-2A120 cameras. The new CMOSIS CMOS-based cameras are designed to maximize the potential of the Camera Link Base communication protocolthrough the use of a 3 tap configuration, improving throughput by 1.5x over 2 tap implementations, without compromising image output depth.

The cameras will be demonstrated at the Image Sensing Show (ISS) June 8C10 in Yokohama, Japan.

The four megapixel Qs-4A60 offers frame rates of up to 60fps, and the two megapixel Qs-2A120 delivers up to 114fps. The two new cameras enable imaging systems to fully utilize the data transmission capability of the Camera Link Base configuration. By using a 3 tap configuration combined with the look-up-table function (LUT), the cameras are able to effectively transmit 10 bit images at 1.5x the speed of a similar 2 tap configuration over one Camera Link cable and without using special cables or frame grabbers.

"By improving the quality and reliability of images we enable innovative solutions for metrology and inspection systems. The Qs-4A60 and Qs-2A120 efficiently realize the full potential of existing Camera Link Base architectures and deliver an optimal combination of frame rates, resolution and image quality in a cost effective way" says Marcel Dijkema, strategic product manager at Adimec.

Features of Quartz Qs products
The Qs-4A60 and Qs-2A120 deliver and 2048 2048 pixels running at 60fps and 2048 1088 running at 114fps, respectively. The actual image acquisition can be done at higher frame speeds using the in-camera burst mode function, allowing the cameras to deliver 90fps and 170fps, respectively. Both cameras are available in monochrome or color models, and both offer optional Near Infrared (NIR) capabilities to extend the spectral range. Solutions with anti-reflection coatings are supported to maximize the application performance.

Both cameras leverage the Adimec True Accurate Imaging technology to deliver image quality comparable to, or in some cases better than, CCD-based cameras, while maintaining CMOS-based sensor technology for improved speed. The cameras also offer a range of quality-enhancing features. Advanced flat field correction (FFC) capabilities, even in color and with field calibration supported, deliver better image uniformity. The cameras deliver signal-to-noise improvements of up to 12dB shot noise improvement compared to off-the-shelf CMOS sensor performance. The new cameras also offer an HDR mode for large scene dynamic capture capabilities.

Superior accuracy through True Accurate Imaging
The entire QUARTZ family of cameras uses the unique Adimec True Accurate Imaging technology as a foundation for superior accuracy. It uses a variety of techniques to derive optimal performance, quality and features out of standard components. The term means literally what it saysthat the cameras are capable of capturing the scene as it is truly there. The cameras do not alter the scene contents due to internal imperfections. This allows the images provided by the camera to enable the best measurement results.
