Hirose Electric USA has introduced a 1mm-pitch interface connector for high-speed data transmission.

Marketed under the brand DH Series, Hirose said its latest connector, with its 1mm contact mating pitch and 0.55mm mounting pitch, offers a more compact, lower-profile, higher-density alternative to conventional half-pitch interface connectors.

It added that the DH Series can handle data transmission speeds of up to 2.5Gb. The DH Series, Hirose said, is ideal for enterprise networking, industrial, telecom and datacom applications.

"This connector responds to the growing demand for robust, durable designs that will provide superior performance and reliable connections in applications that require higher data speeds," said Rick van Weezel, Hirose Electric USA vice president of sales and marketing.

According to Hirose, the DH Series is a shielded, impedance-controlled connector that has a 50 percent reduction in the mating face area due to its smaller mounting and contact mating pitch sizes.

The connector's plug, which has a D-shaped interface design, can resist wrenching forces while the receptacle's through-hole style metal fittings increase retention to the PCB, Hirose added.

The DH connector is available in two different lock stylesa screw lock version with either screwdriver- or hand-tightened screws and a one-touch lock version with metal or plastic buttons.

The company claims that the design of the connector offers a unique contact arrangement for IDC termination and excellent shielding for EMI prevention.

The connector, which measures 43mm x 39mm x 14.3mm, is available in 17, 27, 37 and 51 contact positions.
