JNC bares $18.7M Li-ion battery facilities

JNC Corporation, whose core business involves development of liquid crystals and electronic components used in electronics manufacturing, unveiled the newly completed Lithium-Ion Battery Separator Production Facilities of its member company JNC Petrochemical Corporation. The Ichihara Facilities costing an estimated $18.7 million (2.2 billion Yen) are located in Goikaigan, Ichihara, Chiba.

The Ichihara Facilities will be involved in studying mass production of separators by taking advantage of the resin processing technologies such as development and manufacture of polyolefin film used in electrical insulation sleeves and moulded flexible foam. The newly completed production facilities are commercial mass production facilities incorporating the unique separator production technologies that JNC Corporation accumulated.

Lithium-Ion Battery Separator Production Facilities

JNC Corporation supplies customers who have adopted its preproduction products from the pilot facilities with the products for certifying the line change. The company will then transfer production to the new facilities in successive order, starting from the customers who certify the products.

With the newly unveiled Ichihara Facilities in Chiba, JNC Corporation aims to establish a supply system for large lithium-ion batteries, the markets of which are expected to expand, and develop high performance batteries with improved design for film thickness and porosity, also batteries that are highly safe and with better capacity.
