Osram Opto Semiconductors has introduced the first filament LED in its product range. According to the company, the long thin shape of the Soleriq L 38 provides the basis for filament lamps which, in terms of their appearance and their emission characteristics, are comparable to incandescent lamps.

The Soleriq LEDs claims to offer an extremely uniform colour appearance and quality of light, creating a pleasant atmosphere. They are geared for aesthetic lighting applications in the home and in hotels and restaurants, featuring a colour rendering index of over 80.

Soleriq L 38

Each Soleriq L 38 has a length of 30mm and a diameter of 1.8mm, and support forward voltage from 56V to 96V. This shape, which is similar to that of a conventional filament, plus an emission angle of 360 degrees make them ideal for LED lamps of all wattages that mimic the appearance of classic light bulbs. Soleriq L 38 LEDs are offered in different MacAdam groups according to their colour, forward voltage and brightness, at a temperature of 85C that closely approaches the temperature in the application.

The L 38 is available in three versions with 90lm, 130lm or 140lm. These values enable all previous lamp wattages up to 60W to be replaced with equivalent LED filament solutions, stated the company. The driver voltage needed for the LED filament lamps can also be adjusted. All the versions have an extremely high luminous efficacy of 150lm/W and provide warm white light (2500K to 4000K). The main applications include products with a traditional look and modern interior, such as classic glass bulbs with LED filaments.
