Speakers at the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Innovation Conference 2013 today have urged Malaysian manufacturers to remain competitive in the market.

Top Glove Corp Bhd chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai said that local companies face challenges in the form of quick-shifting customer expectations as the global market requires immediate responses.

Based on the Global Innovation Index 2012, Lim said Malaysia has low creativity, knowledge and technology output. This is despite the country being ranked 32 out of 141 in the global economy.

Malaysia also scored poorly in the provision of creative goods and services, and involvement in online creativity.

"However, we scored highly on ICT business model creation and ICT organisational model creation," Lim said.? - Jeffrey Tan of theedgemalaysia.com
