The Nanyang Technological University is expanding its curriculum to include emerging fields such as big data analytics and biomedical structural biology. Starting August, freshmen will have at least five new academic courses to choose from.
"As a university, we need to look into the horizon and anticipate future employers' needs so that our graduates will be well-placed to build careers not just in established areas but also in the most promising emerging fields," said NTU Provost, Professor Freddy Boey.
The new undergraduate majors and specialisations include:
-Second Major in Biomedical Structural Biology, for Biological Science students;
-Second Major in Society and Urban Systems, for students in Civil, Electrical & Electronic, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering;
-International Trading Programme for Engineering, Business and Maritime Studies students in partnership with International Enterprise (IE) Singapore;
-Business Analytics Programme for Business, Accountancy, Mathematical Science and Engineering students doing a double degree or second major in Business; and
-Experiential Semester Programma for Accountancy students.
