A very interesting comparison of DVB-H and MediaFLO technologies. There is no doubt that the MediaFLO technologies present a more robust physical layer and a code advantage which is reflected in the C/N requirements as an advantage of 4-5dB. However the most important advantage of MediaFLO remains the Statmuxing of channels. This reflects on not only the quality of channels but also the efficiency of the whole system. However many of the shortcomings have been overcome in ATSC mobile DTV, which is a competitor on the home grounds for MediaFLO. ATSC mobile DTV reflects the evolution of cellphones, which are no longer limited to a low resolution as in 3GPP.ATSC Mobile DTV encoding presents higher resolution of 416x240 as well as interactive features through OMA-Rich Media Environment. It will be interesting to see how these technologies compare in the field. mobiletvhome.com
