A press release posted on PRWeb.com on Nov. 26 stated that Google had acquired ICOA for $400 million in order to "further diversify it's already impressive portfolio of companies." ICOA was identified in the release as a broadband wireless Internet network provider that operates Wi-Fi hot spots in public areas such as airports, hotels and retail businesses.

Google kept mum about the report while ICOA chief executive George Strouthopoulos vehemently denied that his company ever considered selling.

Wonder who's stirring the pot.
