Protel International Ltd.'s P-CAD 2001, the latest offering in the company's P-CAD product line, includes schematic capture, signal-integrity analysis, library management, PCB placement and routing and manufacturing output.

The most significant change from the previous P-CAD offering is the inclusion of a signal-integrity simulator that lets designers check multilayer boards for effects like ringing and crosstalk.

Also new is a mixed-signal simulator, based on the XSpice 315 standard, which links with schematics. Protel has added CAMtastic! 2000, a computer-aided manufacturing tool, to the package as well.

Other improvements include support for as many as 999 schematic sheets and 999 board layers per design. P-CAD 2001 also permits designers to attach multiple-pattern graphics to a component and automatically select different graphics during placement depending on component orientation or layer.

Bundled as a single package for $9,995, P-CAD 2001 is available on Windows platforms. Further information can be found at
