Toshiba RF SAW filters measure only 2-by-1.5-by-0.6mm

Claimed to be the industry's smallest RF SAW filters, the SRF942NLC61 and SRF1842NFC61 families come in CSPs that offer a 40 percent reduction in size and 60 percent reduction weight, while still delivering the same electrical performance as larger SAW filters. These features make them suitable for small form-factor mobile devices.

Targeted at the U.S. and European markets, the SRF942NLC61 family supports the Extended GSM (EGSM) 900MHz frequency range, while the SRF1842NFC61 family supports the DCS 1.8GHz range. The devices also offer a choice of interface options including 4 pins (SRF942NLC61 and SRF1842NFC61) for single-ended outputs, as well as 5 pins (SRF942NLC61A and SRF1842NFC61A) or 6 pins (SRF942NLC61B and SRF1842NFC61B) for balanced outputs.

Manufactured on flip-chip bonding technology, the CSP SAW filters measure 2-by-1.5mm. The reduced size results from the use of a thin package base, in lieu of the ceramic cap, enabling a low 0.6mm profile. A specific adhesive material provides strong sealing reliability and improved production efficiency. Product weight is only 7mg.

Respectively, the SRF942NLC61 and SRF1842NFC61 SAW filters operate at a bandwidth of 35MHz and 75MHz, and exhibit an insertion loss of 3.6dB and 3.3dB, and minimum attenuation at the Tx band of 20dB and 9dB.
