The AU9274 USB 1.1 hub controller can be used in an external stand-alone USB hub box to increase the number of USB ports on a PC without requiring an additional USB root port controller. It supports four bus-powered or self-powered downstream ports that can be connected to various USB devices such as USB mice, joysticks, printers, scanners, cameras and video recorders.

In addition to power control and over-current sensing, the device supports an individual LED for each port for status indication of port activity and communication error.

The controller supports four sets of configurations selectable by external pins. This allows easier adoption for various applications as a USB compound hub with embedded USB devices. All USB descriptors, including PID, VID and hub configuration, can also be customized using an optional EEPROM. These features eliminate the need for manufactures to program the microcontroller, speeding prototyping and time-to-market.

The AU9274 is fully compliant with USB specification 1.1 and USB hub specification 1.1, and is housed in a 48-pin SSOP.
