AMD unveils Athlon XP 2000+

The company has rolled out the high-performance AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor, which is said to offer powerful real-time capabilities and smooth playback performance for digital video applications. It also fully supports Windows XP.

The processor features QuantiSpeed architecture, 384KB on-chip, full-speed cache, and support for 3DNow! Professional instructions for enhanced multimedia capabilities. It is compatible with AMD's Socket A infrastructure, is manufactured on 0.185m copper process technology, and supports the advanced 266MHz FSB.

The AMD Athlon XP 2000+ is priced at $339 in 1,000-unit quantities. It is initially integrated into Compaq computer systems, with other computer manufactures following suit.
