The GH06570A2C high-power red laser diode delivers 100mW of pulse optical powerclaimed to be the highest in the industrymaking it suitable for pick-up units of 4X (write) DVD-R/RW drives.

Enabling compatibility with all write-type DVDs, the diode operates at emission wavelengths ranging from 652nm to 660nm, with a peak emission wavelength of 656nm (typ.). It also provides low-current operation, which is achieved through the use of a process that creates a protective film on the end facet of the laser chip, as well as through improvements in the active layer structure.

Other electrical and optical specifications include: dc optical power output, 70mW (max.); threshold current, 35mA (typ.); operating current, 95mA (typ.); operating voltage, 2.6V (typ.); parallel divergence angle, 90; perpendicular divergence angle, 200C; and pulse operating temperature range, -100C to 700C.

The diode is housed in a 5.6mm(x) metal package. Samples are quoted at about $22.85.
