Altera PLD provides 1Gbps True-LVDS transfer rates

The APEX II EP2A70, the company's largest PLD, offers data transfer rates up to 1Gbps True-LVDS on 36 channels. It also supports data bandwidths up to 366Gbps. The logic device provides a high-performance, high-bandwidth, feature-rich solution targeted towards emerging communications standards, Altera disclosed.

The device utilizes 0.135m all-layer copper interconnects, providing customers with both increased core performance and a sustainable long-term, low-cost high-density model. Altera's patented redundancy technology also allows this large die to be manufactured in a cost-effective manner and the HardCopy migration path delivers a volume solution for more cost-sensitive applications.

The EP2A70 device is quoted at $1,200 in high-volume quantities.
