Specifically designed for use in TV receivers with flat-panel displays (FPDs), the DPS 9450 video processor supports display resolutions from VGA (640x480 pixels) to WXGA (1,365x768 pixels). It operates via 1.8V and 3.3V supplies, and comes in a P-MQFP144 housing.

The processor consists of three main functional units: The first unit houses the video interfaces for the incoming analog and/or digital signals including ITU-601/656, YUV/RGB (3-by-8-bit) and analog YUV/RGB plus fast blank, as well as RGB digital 4:4:4 plus FBL for OSD. The second unit enables the scaling to FPD format, while the third unit integrates functional blocks for video signal improvement. The output interface to the FPD supports single- and dual-pixel mode.

Also integrated are a scaler memory, de-interlacer and various image quality improvement functions, and a highly integrated oscillator, which further reduces the number of external components.
