Atmel remote-control receiver handles 1kBaud to 10kBaud rates

The T5743N remote-control receiver, a multichip PLL receiver with fully integrated VCO, is designed for employment in keyless-entry, telemetering and security systems.

The receiver is designed for low-cost data transmission systems with data rates from 1kBaud to 10kBaud in Manchester or Bi-phase code. It can be used for both ASK and FSK systems, and is fully compatible with the company's range of PLL RF transmitters.

With a programmable self-polling and timeframe-check function, current consumption for the receiver, as well as the system, is kept to <1mA. The self-polling mode eliminates the need for the microcontroller to wake up for monitoring if a correct signal comes in. During sleep mode, the crystal oscillator continues operating with very low power of only 0.2mA (typ.) at 250C, 5V.

The chip has a data clock signal that enables easy decoding, and an IC-condition indicator (sleep or active) for controlling the on-chip preamplifier. It also comes with a 5V to 20V data interface to support longer signal transmission distances.

Samples are offered in SO-20 packages, with prices quoted from $1.98 in 10,000-unit lots.
