Underwriters Laboratories Inc. has released the Flammability Testing: A Training Guide video to train manufacturers to conduct flammability tests on plastics used in their products and components. Available in NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats, the video demonstrates techniques and procedures to help manufacturers ensure consistency in testing their products.

Topics include pre-selection, end-product and small component flammability testing, as well as in-depth discussion of standard test specimens, standardized laboratory burner tests and flame confirmation procedures.

Also included in the 70min video are detailed instructions on determining a polymeric material's flammability characteristics and flame testing for various flammability rating classifications including V-0, V-1, V-2, HB, 5VA and 5VB standards.

The video is priced $449 each for UL Plastics customers, $549 for other UL customers, and $899 for non-UL customers.

Companies such as Eastman Kodak, BASF and GE Plastics have already incorporated the video into their technical training program.
