Microtips Technology is aiming a family of 320x240-pixel VGA dot-matrix chip-on-board graphics LCD modules at monochrome display applications in medical instrumentation, electrical and measuring equipment, and feature phones.

The 32240A, 32240D, 32240F, 32240J and 32240N are available with reflective, CCFL, supergreen or white-LED backlights. The overall dimensions are 167-by-109-by-11mm, with a dot size of 0.34-by-0.34mm.

The 32240A and 32240J come without an LCD controller, so that a designer can use the controller of his or her choice. The 32240D comes with Epson's SED1335 LCD controller on board for ease of development, and the 32240F is equipped with Epson's SED-1335 LCD controller with integrated touch panel and a Burr Brown A/D controller IC for the touchscreen.

The 32240J utilizes a robust driver chipset that suits it for grayscale and content-rich applications with no crosstalk or streaking, the company said.

Pricing for most of these modules ranges between $40 and $85.
