Murata common-mode chokes suppress noise in audio signal lines

The DLM2HG series compact, low-profile monolithic chip common-mode choke coils have been optimized for noise suppression applications in the audio signal lines of digital equipment.

These trifilar devices incorporate three coil elements in a compact chip, which measures 2.5-by-2-by-1.2mm. The choke coils are said to be effective in suppressing both differential mode and common mode noise due to their high impedance against both normal- and common-mode currents. They are constructed with a ceramic body. Their internal electrode structure, external electrode configuration and direct current resistance have all been optimized, enabling them to suppress noise superimposed on an analog sound output section, such as headphone terminals, without causing sound distortion or crosstalk.

The DLM2HG series lead-free choke coils exhibit a common-mode impedance of 600 ohms (125 percent) at 100MHz, and a dc resistance of 0.4 ohm (max.). Rated current is 100mA and rated voltage is 16V. Operating temperature ranges from -400C to 850C.
