Unlike traditional cameras, Electro Scientific Industries' CorrectCam incorporates sensors, optics and multiple modes of lighting that can illuminate complex parts and provide equipment manufacturers with a high level of accuracy at very high speeds.

CorrectCam, an ultra-compact OEM machine vision camera, is claimed to be one of the smallest integrated systems on the market today for SMD placement and board alignment. Its reduced size and ease of mobility make it useful for moving-camera applications as well as imaging small and difficult parts.

The camera has a field of view of 9-by-6.8mm; working distance, 40mm; depth of focus, 3mm (11.5mm); distortion, <0.3 percent over entire field; illumination angle, 00 and 160 nominal (100 to 210); and illumination spectrum, red (632nm or 615nm) with yellow, green, blue, white available soon.

The VK-CC10 has a resolution of 640x480 pixels while the VK-CC20 has 1,024x768 pixels. Acquisition takes 33ms or 16ms at 640x480, and 50ms at 1,024x768, all asynchronous. CorrectCam features an IEEE 1394A interface for power, video, setup and lighting control.
