The CS4590 ADPCM core is designed to support multichannel encoding/decoding of up to 3,470 simplex or 1,735 duplex speech channels for implementation of high-end telecommunications systems such as OC-192. The core can also be used for ADPCM speech coding in 130nm ASIC and high-density FPGA IC designs.
The core provides multistandard support for ITU G.726, G.726a, G.727 and G.727a ADPCM.
A member of the CS4000 family, the CS4590 features a maximum clock rate of 222MHz for channel coding. It uses 8 clock cycles to complete one full encoding or decoding operation via burst-mode operation. The codec also uses external memory for holding the channel states.
The CS4590 encodes PCM signals that are in the 13-bit A-law uniform PCM, 14-bit microlaw uniform PCM, and 8-bit A- or microlaw PCM formats. It decodes ADPCM signals into 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-bit ADPCM format as specified by the ITU G.726 and G.727 standards.
The plug-and-play IP core solution also includes pre-optimized netlists, 'C' models, RTL test benches, synthesis scripts, databook and users guide. The company also included a test bench generator that compliments the 'C' model to simplify configuration of complex ITU test data. |
