Fox miniature crystal suited for wireless applications

Frequency-control products manufacturer Fox Electronics said its FX325B crystal is the smallest available in the industry for handheld, portable and wireless applications where size and space are critical. The crystal measures 3.2-by-2.5-by-0.8mm, which is 60 percent smaller than other currently available crystals, the company said.

Key applications for the crystal include Bluetooth products, laptop computers, PCMCIA cards and PDAs.

The crystal provides a frequency range of 20MHz to 50MHz, with a frequency tolerance and frequency stability of 150ppm. The standard operating temperature range of the device is -100C to 600C. The device is available in additional operating temperature ranges, stabilities and tolerances.

The crystals are available in bulk quantities or on a 3,000-unit tape and reel for automatic assembly systems. Lead time is eight to 10 weeks. Pricing starts at $1.46 in quantities of 3,000 for a 20MHz FX325B crystal.
