LSI Computer Systems Inc. has released the LS7183 and LS7184 quadrature clock converters that feature x1, x2 and x4 resolution. The ICs convert A and B quadrature pulses from incremental encoders to counter-control signals.

The LS7183 produces directional clock outputs, while the LS7184 produces clock and directional control outputs. These outputs can be interfaced directly with standard up/down counters for directional and position sensing of the encoder.

The monolithic CMOS devices operate at a voltage of 3V to 5.5V and a temperature range of -200C to 850C. They also feature TTL- and CMOS-compatible I/Os, and programmable output pulse widths with pulse width stability.

The ICs are offered are available in 8-pin DIP or SOIC packages.
