Agilent diagnostic software boasts 80 percent accuracy

The Fault Detective 2.0 software solution boasts of an accuracy rate of about 80 percent for testing circuit boards and electronics subsytems. The software also eliminates the time required for manual diagnoses by automatically activating the Fault Detective once the test system registers a failure.

The company claims that this can significantly cut costs and enhance efficiency of electronic manufacturers by eliminating time and expense of manual diagnoses, increasing diagnostic accuracy and quickly providing insight into the root causes of recurring product failures. Functional test diagnostics account for up to 10 percent of electronic manufacturing costs, the company said.

The run-time of the Fault Detective software for the manufacturing floor is free of charge as companies pay for each diagnosis. The diagnosis price drops as the usage increases. A fault detective modeling software for developers is licensed for $12,000 per year.
