Datatronic Distribution Inc.'s CT317 series surface-mount current-sense transformer boasts a low seated profile4mm above the circuit boardand can operate effectively over the -55C to 130C temperature range.

Aimed at telephone switches, routers, bridges and hubs, the CT317 provides overload detection, load-change sensing, emergency shutdown functions and power regulation. It offers many turns-ratio options, and is said to perform optimally at frequencies of 100kHz and above. Inductance is 80?H to 3.1mH, resistance is 0.5 ohm to 6.1 ohms maximum and isolation voltage is 500Vrms minimum, according to the company.

Measuring 72.1mm wide and 30.5mm deep, the transformer is manufactured with UL 94V-0-compliant materials and is compatible with high-speed automated pick-and-place assembly and high-temperature soldering equipment.

Randy Eller, Datatronic's national sales director, called the component "the logical choice for today's complex power supply applications, fwhere a small size, robust construction, high performance and low cost are so critical."

Datatronic has also introduced a series of high-performance flyback transformers to complement the CT317 series, he said. They are available in tube as well as tape-and-reel packaging. Custom-designed transformers can be specified to meet unique circuit requirements.

The CT317 transformers are priced from 89 cents each in typical production volume. Lead time is up to eight weeks.
